Italian neorealism isn't very interesting to me, but I did enjoy the movie he showed "Children of Heaven." There are other movies that are like that, I find more interesting though and also I think his speech seemed more boring than the other guest speakers we've heard was because he had a very strong accent and most of his speech I was unable to understand to get the full effect that he was trying to get across.

1) Mother Jones" April, 2008
Article: "Voluntary Confinement" By: Michael Mechanic
This article talks about a reality TV show called Solitary where nine men and women are placed in separate rooms which are very small and cramped for up to 12 days without any human interaction and see which one can last the longest, and the winner walks out with 50,000 dollars. In the process they get barely any sleep and close to no food the entire time. They are talked to by this enabler or computer host named 'Val' who messes with their minds. People talk about whether this show is actual torture and psychologically damaging to the people who play in it, or if it has harmless effects.
2)The New Yorker: May 12, 2008
Article: "Bad Dog" By:Larry Doyle
In this article Mr. Doyle talks about his dog and explains about his dog and whether it will be the dog's complaining, eating, or weird habits, but in the article he treats his dog like a real person as if he was talking to himself (imagining what the dog would be saying to him). In the story there is reflection and shift in perspective and character ( the dog's character towards Mr. Doyle over time). i don't know whether this article is suppose to be funny and sarcastic or it should be taken more serious, or perhaps both.

Why Bordem for Celebrity Journalism and reality TV shows???
People aren't necessarily bored because they like to watch reality shows or keep up with whats going on with top celebrities it's just another form of what is going on in the world or a way to relax. I think that everyone thinks about what it would be like to live in that kind of world to be famous or have the attention all on them in a reality show like Real World.
Guest Speaker Steve Jackson
Hmm, very interesting thoughts on truth...I don't think that is something relevant to be teaching about unless in a religious class or something but that was not what he was a professor for. I didn't know about all the different kinds of truth like subjective or objective so I enjoyed his speech because I learned something new and he had a good character even though students didn't participate because most of us didn't read the class blog to know that we were going to have one.
NYT Article- Muslims in America
I think that is really sad that's just like what happened awhile ago in history when the whites didn't want the blacks to start going to there school. It's not right to judge anyone just because of there ethnicity you should try to be at least somewhat open minded towards a person until proven wrong then you can hate all you want, but until then give them a chance because you might find that your beliefs were wrong and come to like the person.
Fahrenheit 451 Movie Thoughts
Fahrenheit 451 was a very strange movie, but I somewhat enjoyed it it was very interest in what the people thought about books, but I didnt like the fact that the firefighters went around burning books of all kinds in peoples houses because they say they are dangerous to people and cause them to be outcasts in society and they fill people's minds with non-sense and "rubbish" and don't do any good for people; they also said that they are boring which even though I'm not a big fan of reading because I'm slow at it, but some people in the world love books.

Music Appreciation
Name of song: Missing You
Artist: First Lady
What is about: It's about a girl saying good bye to the one that she has lost and how she is going to move on in life without him. Her beloved!
I just really like this song, for some reason it just really gets to me although I have never lost someone this close to me or for that fact at all. It's just a really good song to listen too and shows how people are this strong willed to go through this and able to make it through life even though this has happened. It shows just how great human beings are and how one can go through so many tragedies in life and still be the nicest person to meet or accomplish so much without letting these things get to you.
