Pope Benedict XVI's Visit to America
During the Pope's first visit in America since he became the pope for the Catholic churches he spoke at several times at many events that took place during his visit. Some main points that he discussed at these events were the need for Catholic priests to stop the molestation being practiced and for everyone to help in healing these victims. Also, he conducted a mass in which thousands of people were able to hear him say this. The pope was able to meet some of these victims that went through this sexual abuse and he assured them that he would do his best to prevent this.Another point that was talked about was about making a moral challenge to the U.S. culture on issues such as economic justice and abortion. In addition, he made an appeal to the church to set aside all anger and become united, despite each others conservative and liberal views.

1.Pennsylvania: Clinton Is Alive and Kicking—And Threatening To Tear the Party Apart?
Even though Clinton won Pennsylvania doesn't mean that the race is over, Obama still has a chance. Clinton is planning on going the whole race and with this win she has more money to put towards advertising her campaign.
2.McCain on the Housing Crisis: Quick, Do Nothing!
McCain didn't have any reaction to the Housing Debit crisis; he didn't really even say anything about it. It seemed as though McCain only gave advice about it, not what he plans to do or anyways to help the US redeem itself.
3.The Clintons Campaign New Math
Clinton is trying to get the electoral college to look at who wins with the delegates. Even though Obama has won most of the states, Clinton has won many of the Big states which count just as much if not more.
4.Black and More than Black
Obama gave a speech on racism and hatred in the US that is still going on today. But when he was talking about jobs for all, and proper education to all children he wasn't trying to play the race card at all.
5.Hilary Clintons Little Noticed Isreal Problem
Clinton had said that Isreal is should be somewhat under jewish influence. While Obama is more of anti-jewish. Most presidents before had said that Jeruslam should be left to Negotiations between the two main religious/ethnic groups.
6. Newsweek: Obama or Clinton: Which Candidate can Best Take on McCain?--Because Obama and McCain are so different, Obama has a higher chance of beating McCain than Clinton does. Obama will bring about economic and foreign policy change and has alwyas been opposed tot he war in Iraq.
7. Time: A Primary with No End--Clinton's win in Pennsyvania makes the race go on. Reublicans are excited that the Democrats have not picked a nominee yet because as long as the two candidates keep arguing, it increases the Republicans chance of winning the Presidency, again. She is still claiming that she has a higher chance at beating McCain than Obama, but many experts do not believe that. Her campaign is in need of money, but it will continue until at least June.
8. The Washington Monthly: Political Animal: The McCain Bubble--Polls that match Obama and Clinton vs. McCain have McCain at a 45% chance of winning. Although he is a likable candidate, he is not as strong as many think it is and when it comes time for the Election in November, he will probably lose to the Democratic candidate.
9. US News and World Report: Many Women Don't feel Obligated to vote for Clinton--A recent poll says that only 22% of women feel like they have to vote for Clinton just because she is female. Overall, Obama has won more of the female vote than Clinton. In the states that Obama won the women vote, he also took the state. Women over 50 tend to vote for Cliton, but younger women, of which there are more, vote Obama.
10. The New Republic: The Next McGovern--Obama's weakness as a general candidate grows stronger with each primary. 1.Aljazeera news reports McCain has gained the support of the Evangelical Christian ministers Rod Parsley, Reverend Parsley's support allowed McCain to win the Ohio primary.
2. Fox claims that Clinton should win over Pennsylvania's primary in order to stay competitive for the elections.Democratic strategists say Clinton is favored for that win, but needs to stay in a 10 point margin.
3. In attempt to discredit Obama, Clinton's administration have been talking to super delegates about the controversy surrounding Barak's pastor reports Fox news. He made claims that the U.S. government is responsible for the spread of HIV.
4. ABC news reports Clinton says she is more prepared to be the next U.S. president because of her foreign experience. Obama supporters fired back saying that Clinton has continued with her role in foreign policy when she was first lady.
5. McCain's campaign event he discussed war in Iraq. he reportedly told lookers that he would be fine if the American troops were in Iraq for the next 100 years. ABC reports predict the comment to continue to hurt McCain during his shot at president.
6.NBC news reports Oregon republicans voting for Obama or Clinton. During the past 7 days with 10,000 republicans have refilled as Democrats in just Oregon.

Reflective Question
1) Prime rate: A term used in many countries as a reference to interest rate which is used by banks. It originally indicated the rate of interest at which banks lent to their most favored customers, but today that is not the case. This is important for when the interest rates get high they tent to effect the economy in a negative way.
2)Tibet: Currently under the ruling of China and trying to change that because they don't want to be under this kind of ruling they want to be free. Significant in having choices and not being told or controlled on how or what to do.
3) Columbia Trade Agreement: This is a free trade agreement between the United States and Columbia. The importance of this is that it will create more jobs for the American farmers of today.
4)Iraqi military, militia, U.S. military-- who's who in the green zone?: The Americans are in the green zone and the bases are posted in Iraq. Which keep getting attacked multiple times. Connects to me in that I want the war to end...so the more things that have to do with Iraq and the U.S. are a big deal and have a lot to do with the elections for this year by which candidate is doing what to end the war.

The aspects that affect my viewpoint the most would have to be my cultural heritage as well as my geography. Since I was so young and don't know a lot about my cultural heritage it makes me have a certain curiosity on how things would be if I hadn't been adopted and what would have changed if I had stayed with my real parents. Sometimes I think about meeting them, but for most of the time I wish not to know because I live a great life now and from what little I know if I had stayed my life would have been very short. I would have to pick numbers 3 and 5 from mine as being the best!!!
B. Sheet #1- 2008 Election
First off I don't know if this is the right way to do the briefing sheet but what I did was write the title of the article in which I read then I summarized it.Also, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to choose a specific candidate so I just added all 3.
1.Clinton and Obama pound on McCain over Economy
* Clinton and Obama tell us about the big issues today on heath care, high costs of college, energy prices, and other budget issues. While poking fun at McCain in between topics about how his economic plan should just not exisit and how his campaign is like launching a 3rd Bush term.
2. Editorial: Let Voters Decide
* Here it says that Clinton should just give up now because the mathematics don't favor her. The race is so close right now that soon the popular vote and the delegate count will show who will come out on top after the few remaining states have had their say.
3. Obama Links Cost of War to Economic Hardships
* This page talks of how the U.S. cannot afford this illegal war in Iraq, which of now is costing 3 trillion that could've gone towards other things. Super capitalism and the rich mans greed are too destuctive toward reall Americans today and the world to notice that the war needs to end, there are bigger issues.
4. Which candidate has the most green cred?
* The answer is both democrats, economy plans are the first on their agendas by having a cap and trade system to reduce the nation's carbon emissions. They say that by 2050 the use of carbon emissions will be 80% below the 1990 levels, by having 25% of that come from wind, solar and other sources in 2025.
5. Can they Heal our Health care System
* Thousands are on the democrat side. Obama says he'll make insurance so affordable people won't be able to resist, Clinton proposes she'll mandate that everyone get coverage and then McCain only remark is that he'll let the companies compete to keep costs down.
6. Stand on Iraq: Decisions to go to War
* Hillary talks that she would of never given authority to Bush if she had known then what she knows now, she hopes all the troops are out within a year and their should be more troops in Afghanistan not moving them out of Iraq.

* Barak says he would have troops out in 16 months and the war in Afghanistan won't further if the commitment in Iraq isn't reduced. Pulling the troops out of Iraq will increase the U.S. troop presence in Afghanistan and the extra soldiers will be used as leverage for additional troop commitment for NATO.

* McCain fully supports Bush' s invasion on Iraq, but the procedures taken about the war were a mistake, but not the war itself.
